Tutors

At Christiana, tutoring positions are usually filled by moms of students. We do have several dedicated and wonderful tutors who do not have children in the program.  We are not looking for tutors who have degrees in education, but rather Moms with a great interest in teaching and a great interest in a particular subject matter.  We feel that these moms will make learning fun and challenging for the kids, and we know they will invest themselves in doing an excellent job! We do hire outside tutors to fill the positions when necessary.  As we are moving into the high school years, we find that the criteria for tutors are changing somewhat.  The level of expertise in teaching the high school program needs to be higher than in the lower grades.  We also welcome families where Moms don’t want to teach but prefer to pay the tuition and drop off their child/ren.  Parents are asked to volunteer a minimal amount of time in order to help the program run smoothly.
