UNIFORM POLICY FOR 2007-2008

The appearance of our students reflects the caliber of the academy, excellent student conduct, and the quality of the academic achievement at Christiana. Remember that modesty and neatness are the criteria when making uniform selections. Your attention to the details is appreciated, as is your support in using this tool for the glory of God.

The dress code is as follows:

K-8  Boys

• Navy blue dress pants, no cargo pockets
• White polo shirt or turtleneck, no emblems
• Plain, white short-sleeve t-shirts only are allowed beneath shirts.
• Navy socks
• Brown, black, or navy belt (optional)
• Dark colored leather or suede shoes, no sneakers (unless solid black leather)
• Navy dress shorts, no extra zippers or pockets (Sept. and May only)
• Navy uniform sweater, vest or pullover sweater (required)*

6-8  Boys  French Toast light blue polo shirt is optional

High School Boys

• Khaki or navy dress pants (or uniform pants, NO cargo type pants allowed)
• Navy, light blue (French Toast brand only), or white polo shirt, no emblems
• White button down oxford dress shirt, no emblems  
• Plain, white short-sleeve t-shirts only are allowed beneath shirts
• Khaki or navy socks to match pants
• Brown or black belt (optional)
• Dark colored leather or suede shoes, no sneakers (unless solid black leather)
• Khaki or navy dress shorts, no extra zippers or pockets (Sept. and May only)
• Navy uniform sweater, blazer, vest, or pullover sweater (required)*

High School boys may mix and match colors of pants and shirts with the exception of navy pants with navy shirts.

 A neat and conservative hairstyle is required at all times.  Hair length should never be below the eyebrows or ears, or longer than the top of the shirt collar.  Spiked hair and mohawk styles are not acceptable.

Watches may be worn as well as a crucifix or cross on a small chain or necklace. 

No other jewelry should be worn by boys.

*Sweaters – May be a fleece or knit cardigan, with zipper or buttons, no belts.  Sweaters should fit neatly and not be oversized or longer than the hips.  Uniform sweaters are required as sometimes it is chilly and no jackets or non-uniform sweaters will be allowed during class.

NO SWEATSHIRTS PLEASE! 

K – 2 Girls

• Navy blue jumper (round neck, @ Class brand or square neck, French Toast brand)
• Shorts under jumper recommended
• White polo shirt or turtleneck, no emblems
• French Toast white polo shirt with navy trim around the collar optional
• Solid navy or white sweater* (required)
• Solid navy or white socks or tights (navy trim optional on socks)
• Navy leggings (no trim) during cold temperatures are permitted
• Solid-colored black, brown or navy leather shoes.   No sneakers or open back shoes.

3 – 5 Girls

• Same as above with “V”-neck pleated jumper (French Toast brand).

6 – 8 Girls

• Navy blue skirt, between knee length to mid calf – Fr. Toast or other uniform brand
• NO cargo style skirts allowed
• White polo shirt or turtleneck, no emblems
• French Toast light blue polo shirt (optional)Solid navy or white uniform sweater* (required)
• Solid navy or white socks or tights (navy trim optional on socks)
• Navy leggings (no trim) during cold temperatures are permitted (www.Target.com- girls uniform leggings – navy – $14.99 for two pairs; only these please!)

• Uniform navy vests or uniform pullover sweaters are optional if desired (neatly fitted)

Middle School Make up Policy –  No make-up will be allowed in middle school but they may wear clear nail polish.  No decorations or French manicures.  For hairstyle and jewelry see below.

High School Girls

• Khaki or navy skirts, between knee length to mid calf – French Toast brand
• French Toast pleated skirt preferred Item #1066X or N, depending on size
• Navy, light blue (French Toast brand only), or white polo shirt, no emblems
• White button down oxford dress shirt, no emblems        
• Solid navy or white uniform sweater* (required)
• Solid navy or white socks or tights (no trim)
• Navy leggings (no trim) during cold temperatures are permitted (www.Target.com- girls uniform leggings – navy – $14.99 for two pairs; only these please!)
• Solid-colored black, brown or navy leather shoes.   No sneakers or open back shoes.
• Uniform navy blazer**, uniform navy vest, or uniform navy pullover sweater is optional if desired (neatly fitted)

High School girls may mix and match colors of skirts and shirts with the exception of navy skirts with navy shirts. When wearing navy leggings under a khaki skirt, a navy top should be chosen to match.

**Blazer –French Toast blazer, item #1309U

A neat and conservative hairstyle is required at all times.  Jewelry should not be worn with the exception of a small cross, crucifix, or religious medal necklace, a watch, and one pair of small post earrings if desired. Please help us to enforce these guidelines.

High School Make up Policy –  Light colored fingernail polish (no other decorations on the nails) is acceptable for high school girls.  Light foundation and light lipsticks may be worn with parental approval.

Parents are asked to have each article of clothing marked with their child’s name.
