Standards and Guidelines for TutorsAs parents and Instructors of our children working together for the success of this program, we must be sure that we are in agreement with respect to the expectations of the tutors. The following should be agreed to in its entirety by each tutor at the Academy. We believe that to be a faithful disciple of Christ involves having a personal relationship with Jesus our Savior. This is evidenced by daily prayer, knowledge of the scriptures, and attendance at a Christian Church on Sundays. We believe that human life is sacred and we profess a pro-life worldview. We agree to faithfully fulfill the commitment to do a self-evaluation quarterly in private prayer. We believe that as tutors we are called to a consistent and model standard of behavior which exemplifies a Christ-like attitude at all times. This interior peaceful attitude will extend to our exterior appearance, which will follow the dress code for instructors as outlined in the handbook. As instructors at the Academy, we understand that our positions are not only inclusive of Academic teaching, but spiritual and human formation as well. To this end we recognize the necessity of holding the children responsible for their behaviors on levels both social and academic. Class time may at times need to be focused on problems or concerns with the childrens behaviors. This could take precedence over class material. We understand that while away from home, these children are our children and should be treated as such. The integral formation of the whole child is paramount to our success. We understand that private consultations and discussions between tutors and parents regarding any concerns about the students are to be kept confidential. Bringing a concern to the department head or Administration for further intervention would not be a breach of this confidentiality and is encouraged whenever beneficial. We understand that to meet the expectations of the parents and the Administration, we need to be well prepared for our classes. We understand that the Homework Assignment sheets are to be handed in according to the guidelines set forth by the administration by a time to be announced. We understand the importance of checking the initials on the HAS and agree to check initials regularly. We understand that in order for the program to run smoothly, timeliness must be observed. Tutors promise to arrive 10 minutes prior to their class. |
